Natural Cold Remedies

There are people out there that prefer to use all natural remedies in order to help them get past a cold.

There are plenty of over the counter medications but they like the natural, alternative medicine approach. If you really think about that, what did the people from the early 1500 and 1600’s do, they did not run to a pharmacy when they had colds. There are many different ways to fight a cold besides taking a cold medication.

One way to fight a common cold is by Herbal Therapy, it is said that garlic can help prevent a cold because it contains an antibiotic called allicin.

This may sound a bit strange but it has been known to work, try boiling a couple of very strong smelling white onions and then place a towel big enough to cover your head and the pot. Cover your head and the onions acts as a vaporizer, clears the sinuses in a matter or minutes. If you really can’t stand the sight of onions then try onion capsules, they are available in all health food stores.

Maybe you want to try Juice Therapy. Certain juices are said to be able to fix a cold right up. Fresh Pineapple juice is one of those juices, it has citrus and has less acid than orange juice. Pineapple juice also has more vitamin C than orange juice does. If you like the idea of a juice therapy for colds then you won’t be disappointed with Food Therapy. Grapefruit is a great food for colds. Just like in the juice it can detoxify the liver.

Your liver is the beginning of the immune system. Orange juice has always been the staple for getting better but more and more research is showing that there are other ways of becoming healthier with other juices such as grapefruit and pineapples. Orange juice is a very sweet fruit and because of the sweetness it cannot detoxify the liver properly so you stay sicker longer.

Aromatherapy is great for colds as well. You may not think so but it does. For those people who are into the whole aromatherapy and did not know that it could be used in fighting cold, now you have another reason to use it. Most people into aromatherapy will have an aromatic diffuser. Just like using certain scents for mood enhancement, the scents can be used to relieve cold symptoms. The exotic scents are the best , two of the best are the Ravensare and Niaouli. These can be blended with other great scents like blackberry, pine, coconut, lemon, cherry and eucalyptus are just a few.

If you choose to try just one of these all natural remedies or maybe all, know that these should be used for common colds only.

Anything more serious and you should see a doctor or take an over the counter medication, to relieve your symptoms.
