Natural Colic Cures
One day is just simply disappears. Some kids can colic on a schedule and others can cry for hours and hours without any comfort at all. Bottle fed babies are more prone to colic than breastfed babies. There is no real reason why babies get colic but it is a fact of infant life and all we can do as parents is try to take care of them the best we can.
There is nothing worse for a baby then colic. They know something is bothering them but unfortunately we as parents cannot. There are some doctors who may give a baby some kind of prescription but as young as a baby is , if you can soothe a baby naturally then that is the best way. The first natural remedy a parent can use is Music. Many parents are big believers that the soft sounds of lullabies can calm a baby. It depends on the baby but in general terms it is true. What also may work is if you whisper gently into the baby’s ear a shhhhhh and rock them back and forth.
The second recommendation for natural colic cure is diet. At the age where a baby gets colic, he isn’t really eating a whole lot to change but what does work for some parents is changing from regular formula to soy. If you are feeding the baby juice, cut back and give your baby a dose of gas drops before feeding her a bottle. Sometimes they get a great gas build up it causes them colic.
Experts recommend swaddling. This is where you wrap up the baby like they do in the hospital. It has been proven to work. Babies feel more secure when they are wrapped up and a colicky baby is no different. Also, try walking and rocking with baby. If you want to add some insurance then try swaddling the baby and then walking with them. If your child is being bottle fed then try changing bottles.
The third natural treatment is to try something called Gripe Water. Some types of Gripe Water claim to be preservative free but check the ingredients before buying it, you want something to help the colic not increase it. Try a nice warm bath, even though they are babies you can try an aromatherapy bath. Choose a scent like lavender which is a baby relaxer. Use a chamomile soap to further calm the baby.
A great bottle for babies with colic are called Dr. Brown’s, they come in 4 and 8 ounce bottles but what sets these bottles apart from others is they come with a plastic insert, you will notice your baby crying a lot less.
